An Old Book
My friend Simon and I were at Half-Price Books this afternoon, and I was having a wander around the Computer Science and Technology stacks, and I happened to find a copy of Steven Levy’s, Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution. It was a slightly used copy; the pages were aged to a mild yellow, but there didn’t appear to be any tears, or frayed pages. So I went ahead and bought it. When I got home I started reading it, and happened upon a receipt from the ASUC (UC Berkeley) bookstore from 1989, that the prior reader had been using as a bookmark.

OMG, I absolutely LOVE Half Price Books! I used to go to Milkwaukee almost every summer for a few years, and they had tons of them their. My suitcase would be filled with books that I no longer needed, and I’d go in and trade ‘em, then return home with a suitcase full of new ones
Yeah, Half-Price Books is the best bookstore! Whenever I go, I’m flabbergasted by the outstanding selection they have, and dismayed on how much their name is a misnomer: most books are less than half price!
I don’t believe in 1989. This is yet another propaganda campaign launched by the Cascadians.
